The Planner: Deleting Events

When importing the Planner into a digital calendaring system, you must be careful about how it gets imported. If you choose to add the Planner data into one of your existing sub-calendars, but then you decide to delete it, it can be a laborious task to delete each entry of the Planner one at a time.

To be clear, there is no way to "uninstall" the Planner. The importing of the Planner adds individual calendar items to one of your calendars. Deleting the existing entries is a manual process.

Luckily, if you use Apple Calendar to manage your calendars, there's a relatively easy way to do a bulk delete of the Planner data. For users of other systems, you may need to delete each entry one at a time unfortunately.

1) Search for the existing events

If you are using Apple Calendar on your desktop Mac OS computer, there is a search bar in the top right corner. Other systems have similar search tools. Basically, you can use the search box in your calendar to find all of the Digital Planner events based on a word that is common to all of them, such as "Gospel". You just have to be careful if that word is present in one of your personal calendar items as well.

2) Delete the events through the search results

Once you've got the search results appearing in the right column, simply delete the ones you want to delete. You can use the shift key to select multiple items at once and use either the Delete key on your keyboard or right-click to choose Delete.

Here's a video that offers a visual to the aforementioned steps. There's no audio, but it should give you a sense of what needs to be done:

Once the old calendar is deleted, you'll want to import the Planner as a new calendar. Please follow the instructions in the user guide to ensure they get added to a new calendar. Visit the Planner page on GOARCH for the latest User Guide and other files.
