You can resize the left-hand panels by dragging the middle bar left or Right.
The Admin Menus
The Main Menu links have their own set of pages (Elements, Modules, Users, Tools, Settings).Clicking these links will reveal a dropdown menu with additional items.
- Dashboard: Takes you back to the main page of the manager
- Elements: Contains all of the “pieces” of your website.
- Templates are the outermost structure and design of your web pages.
- Template Variables allow you to add custom features on a page by page basis.
- Chunks are blocks of HTML code.
- Snippets are blocks of PHP code for the front-end.
- Plugins are blocks of PHP code for the manager.
- Manage Categories is for creating labels to organize your resources.
- Manage Files is for organizing and uploading images and PDFs.
- Modules: Contains the Doc Manager for performing bulk actions to your resources and the Extras page for adding/updating snippets & plugins.
- Users: Manage both back-end manager users and front-end web users and roles.
- Tools: additional functionality, including Clear Cache and Remove Locks.
- Settings: (gear in top right) Site Configuration and various Logs, amongst other items.
Site Resource Tree
The Site Resource tree is a hierarchical listing of your website’s resources, which includes both pages and weblinks. At the top ofthe tree are a series of action buttons: Expand Site Tree, CollapseSite Tree, New Resource, New Weblink, Refresh Site Tree, SortSite Tree, Sort Menu Index, Manage Images, Manage Files,Manage Elements, Purge Deleted Resources,Theme Color Switch. Depending on access level, all icons may not be visible.
Shortcuts
Right-click on a resource in the Site Tree to see the ActionsMenu. The Actions Menu gives you additional shortcuts.Create resources, containers and weblinks in an existingContainer by right clicking on the resource and selecting one of the"Create" options.
If you right click on one of your resources, you'll see a pop-up menu of options for that resource.
Editing Area
The editing area is the main content area of your MODx manager. When you choose to create or edit a resource, you'll find your WYSIWYG editor in this area.
