How do I Upload Files to my Website?

There are a couple ways to upload files (images, PDFs, audio files, etc.) to your website.

1. Using SFTP

Using an SFTP client requires a bit more set up than option 2, but it provides more functionality and ease of use. FTP is also great for batch uploads. There are many programs available for free online. Ensure you're downloading something that works for your computer environment and is a legitimate program and not malware. The Department of Internet Ministries uses Filezilla and Cyberduck. You can also access FTP through a web browser if you do not want to download additional software.

When your website was set up, you were sent FTP account information. If you no longer have that information, send an email to [email protected].

  1. Open your preferred FTP program.
  2. If the program has options, find the "SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) option.
  3. For server, add ftphost.goarch.org
  4. Port you can leave as the default. It will probably be something like "522"
  5. For username and password, get this information from the Internet Ministries email.
  6. Connect

If all went well, you should now be logged into your website's file system.

  • You'll want to navigate to yourwebsite.com/public_html/assets. For images or photos, navigate to images. PDFs, DOCs, etc go to files. Audio or other media navigate to media.
  • Use your program's upload feature to now upload the desired file(s) to the folder. You may even be able to just drag and drop from your computer.

You can now use your files in your web pages.

2. Using the EVO File Manager

  • Log into your EVO website. If you're not sure how, check out this article.
  • Click on Elements, then Manage Files

  • Navigate to assets. Now, select the appropriate folder for the file type you're uploading. Images or photos should go in images. PDFs, DOCs, etc go in files. Audio or other media should go in media.
  • Once you have selected the folder, then select Browse.
  • Select your file from the pop up window. Press OK.
  • Press Upload File

You can now use your files in your web pages.
