Using Gmail to Check Your IMail Account

If you have an account on our IMail hosting platform but prefer to consolidate and/or check your account through the Gmail website, follow these instructions:

First, log into your Gmail account and go to your Settings page, located under the gear in the top right corner.

Next, click on Accounts and Import. Under Check mail from other accounts, click on Add a mail account.

You will then be taken through a series of steps where you will be asked to enter the email address you would like to add. This is your email account hosted on the Archdiocese IMail server. Your settings will be as follows:

Incoming Settings (to receive mail):

  • Email Address: enter your email address in the form of [email protected]
  • Username: enter your email address in the form of [email protected]
  • Password: enter your password
  • POP Server: imail.goarch.org
  • Port: 995
  • Check off "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail"
  • Check off "Label incoming messages"

Once your incoming settings are configured, you will be asked if you want to send mail on behalf of this account. We recommend you do so with the following settings:

  • SMTP Server: imail.goarch.org
  • Username: enter your email address in the form of [email protected]
  • Password: enter your password

You will now be able to send and receive email from your Gmail account using your email address on the Archdiocese IMail server.
