Hoaxes and Email Scams
This section covers topics to educate email users on different scams, hoaxes and phishing key loggers sent via email. These potentially dangerous emails can cause serious damage to Archdiocese computers, mobile phones and the computer network. It is the responsibility of staff to use common sense in being vigilant when receiving suspicious email. This goes a long way to protect information resources throughout the Archdiocese.
When in doubt about a suspicious email:
1. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER click on links within suspicious looking email. This is especially true, if you do not personally know the sender.
2. When in doubt, contact the IT department. Upon recommendation from IT Department, forward the email to [email protected] and IMMEDIATELY DELETE IT.
Err on caution by following Murphy's Law: "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is".
